A teahouse is a space where time flows differently--set apart from the noise of daily life.
In such a place, one's breath settles naturally, and the senses begin to awaken.
In this exhibition, Intervals of Stillness, I, Toshitaka Ogasawara, present images drawn from 25 years of quietly observing the world of Japanese tea, especially the teahouse spaces of Urasenke's Konnichian.
What I encountered through the lens was not merely visual form.
It was the gentle drift of light, the hush within shadows, the sensation of time accumulating softly.I sought to capture the subtle presences that emerge in the interstices--awai--between what is seen and what is felt.
Using photography as my medium, I hope to share with you the quietude I have sensed through my own gaze.
May these images offer a moment of resonance with the stillness that dwells within you.
